We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to anti-ageing products at Woolworths. These are my favourites (in no particular order)…

1. Clarins Double Serum
What does it do?

Apply it morning and night onto cleansed skin before your day or night cream.
My verdict:
I’m at a stage where products like to pill on my skin (perhaps because I’ve used so many over the years). I can safely say that the Clarins Double Serum melts into my skin and always gives it a radiant-looking glow post application. If you have dehydrated, ‘exhausted-looking’ skin, give this icon a try.

2. Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum
What does it do?
The second icon in my anti-ageing line-up is Estée Lauder’s ANR – a 7-in-1 serum that fights the multiple signs of ageing. It assists in line reduction (yay), firmness, even tone, strengthening of the skin barrier, hydration, radiance and has multiple anti-oxidants. It protects the skin from environmental aggressors in the day and renews the skin by night. She’s like a skincare superhero. Good news - it’s suited for all skin types.
How to use?
Use 1-2 drops of the serum using the drop applicator on cleansed skin, morning and night. Apply using upwards movements on the face and neck.
My verdict:
Any product that has high doses of hyaluronic acid wins me over. I’ve used this serum for years and even though there are hundreds of new skincare launches each year, this still remains a favourite. The HA leaves your skin feeling soft, plumped and moisturised and it slots in well with other skincare products. Use it day and night to see visible effects.

Estée Lauder ANR
3. Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Lift & Day Cream
What does it do?
Crammed with ceramides to reinforce the skin’s barrier and red algae to support the skin’s moisture retention, this little pot of gold intensely hydrates and tightens sagging skin through each application. Your skin will feel hydrated the entire day from the moment you wash it off.
How to use:
Each morning, smooth this luxurious, gel-like cream onto cleansed skin using an upward motion to promote sculpture of the skin.
My verdict:
I love this product because it forces me to sit and practice the art of self-care. It absorbs quickly, with zero residue and works as an excellent primer before applying foundation. This range is great for those wanting firmer-looking skin.

Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Lift and Firm Day Cream
4. Origins Plantscription™ Active Wrinkle Correction Serum With Retinoid
What does it do?
It boosts firmness and starts to visibly lighten wrinkles on the face and eye area. This serum contains potent retinol and powerful plant actives and is a great product to start off with if you’re a retinol novice.
How to use:
Dispense 1-2 pumps onto cleansed skin at before bedtime. Avoid the eye area. Don’t combine it with other retinol-based products. Wear sunscreen every day after using this product as it increases sun sensitivity.
My verdict:
I’ve started to get lines around my eye area and was interested to see if this serum would make a difference. After 10 days of use, they appeared less visible. I’ve always gotten great results when using retinol, and this product was a reminder to include it in my skincare routine.

5. Clinique Super Defense City Block SPF 50
What does it do?
Sunscreen is the most important product in your anti-ageing arsenal. It slows down the formation of fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, elasticity and hydration loss, and overall photo-ageing. This sheer, tinted, lightweight SPF protects your skin from UV rays and is a must if you’re using retinol-based skincare.
How to use:
If you’re unsure of how much sunscreen to apply in the AM, use the two finger rule to measure the amount. Wear over or under foundation. It fits snugly into your handbag too, making it an ideal travel partner.
Wear your SPF everyday, please!
My verdict:
I’m a sucker for sunscreen with a tint to cover my redness. This one is light as a feather and absorbed beautifully once applied. I use nothing less than SPF 50 now and think this is an excellent SPF that I’ll repurchase again and again.
